"Hi, my name is Paul Hinman and these are exciting times for Alberta."
Paul Hinman, former MLA for Cardston-Taber-Warner is the interim leader of the Wildrose Alliance Party of Alberta.
Paul was raised in the neighborhood of Haysboro in the riding of Calgary-Glenmore, and still calls Haysboro home, living just blocks away from his childhood home.
He first became interested in politics through his mentor and grandfather, the Hon. E.W. (Ted) Hinman, who served as Provincial Treasurer in the Earnest Manning government of Alberta from 1955 to 1964 and Minister of Municipal Affairs from 1954 to 1955. He was previously an active member of the Federal Reform Party of Canada, serving on policy and election committees, and with the Conservative Party of Canada there after. Paul was elected to his first term as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for the constituency of Cardston-Taber-Warner on November 22, 2004.
Paul was an irrigation farmer, and a small-business entrepreneur. He received honour awards in high school and was accepted into the University of Alberta Faculty of Pharmacy after graduation.
Paul is an avid outdoorsman and family man. He has had the opportunity to travel extensively, including trips to Denmark, Spain, the Caribbean Islands, Africa and Hong Kong and lived in the Philippines for two years, where he learned to speak their native language, Tagalog.
With the Wildrose Alliance, Paul brings a breath of fresh air to the tired politics of the Stelmach PC's, fighting for accountability of our elected representatives, responsible management of Alberta's resources and a health care system we can depend on.
"For the first time in memory, Alberta is losing people to Saskatchewan, a province that under Premier Brad Wall is experiencing record economic surplus while Alberta, under Ed stelmach is experiencing economic deficits. Will you be part of the excitement? Send Ed a message. Bring back the Alberta advantage. Support the Wildrose Alliance"
